Using Social Media in your business is all about interacting with your clients and getting them involved with you, your business and industry. Adding a discussion board to your Facebook Fan Page is a great way to start the conversation. Here are the step by step instructions on how to add a discussion board to your Facebook Fan Page.
Generally the discussion board is already part of your Facebook Fan Page when you create it, however if it’s not, this is how you add it.
1. Using the search box at the top of Facebook, type in “discussion boards” In this list this should bring up “discussion boards app” Click on this.
2. You will be taken to the Discussion Board Fan Page.
3. Under their profile photo is a link “add to my page”
4. This will bring up a list of your pages.
5. Select which pages you want to add the discussion board on
6. Click on “add to page”
7. Navigate back to your page and the discussion board should be part of your page.
All my pages already have the discussion board, so I couldn’t test this correctly. Please let me know your feedback on if this works for you.

Hoping you can help…
1st I created a “community” page thinking it was a regular group. I got discussion board up and created bunch are sections (I was so excited & couldn’t wait to share). The problem was that no one could find it with a search on facebook (except for me), and even the invites I sent were not received.
I was able to create a “closed” group – that people CAN find, but when I went to add app, it wasn’t listed. I added as a “like” and it ended up on that community page that was not visible to anyone. I loved the community page, but deleted it hoping the new “group” would show up; it didn’t.
So Are you able to either help me recreate a “community” page that a community can actual join/gather/find?
or can you help me to add the discussion board to my group page to make the incredibly supportive place I imagine?
THANK YOU!
Susan

thanks
Not that I’m aware of, you will have to contact the app developer
Hi Susan
I don’t believe that you can add the app onto a group, only to a page.
I would suggest creating a page, not a community page – as if your page gets busy Facebook will take over the management of that page.
So the best ideas would be to create a page and then add the discussion board.
Thanks
Natalie
thanks for the post i get it worked, but i need to manage this discussion board as of someone starts a topic admins should be notified, Approve and Deny Facility,
any one has seen this facility please do help me
Regards
and thanks
When I click “add to my page” NO RESULTS is displayed. Any idea why this is happening and how to get around it? Its a personal facebook page.
Thanks!
Thanks for the update it really helped me alot, I did it for facebook.com/IndiaGarage
Thanks Natalie

following on from (19) Neil
Hi Natalie,
I’ve followed the above discussion but still not managed to set up on my page. I’ve set up as a personal account. http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Earls-Court-Society/199706196758443
The “add to my page.” link doesn’t appear on the left tool bar of the COMMUNITY / COMMUNITY / BAND/ ORGANIZATION pages -I tried all of these and tried to find via Firefox /Internet Explore and Chrome browsers.
Could you please help,
Thanks,
Raida
I’ve solved it by doing something totally different, setting up the page within my personal facebook account where I have 40 friends. As the page is a community project I didn’t want to set-up within my personal account so set up a new facebook account using another email (personal not business)address. I’m guessing you need a certain number of friends on your personal account before you can set-up a discussion app.
I don’t believe this feature is available you will have to check with the developer of the app
It’s only for a page not a personal profile. You need to have a business page.
I would contact the develop of the app.
The app is only available for pages not profiles.
Thank you so much…it really helped me!!!!
Thank you so much ^^
Hi, Thank you very much, I would not have solved it without this information.
Can we have two discussion boards on the same Page to differentiate Beginners & Advanced threads?
Ritesh, you can only have one discussion board per page however you can set up different threads for beginners and advanced.
PROBLEM SOLVED
If it is saying ‘no page found’ when you try to ‘add to page’, this is because you are using it as the page, you should ‘add to page as you (own profile), it will allow you to add to any page that you are an admin.
Hi Natalie, I’ve set up my page Moms PACT and have already activated all the apps (photos, links etc.) on the page. Now I want to add a Discussion Board. When I went to the Discussion Boards page and clicked on “Add this app to my page”, it brings up none of the 2 pages I administer. It appears that that feature is not finding my pages. the URL for my Moms PACT page is http://www.facebook.com/MomsPACT
Please help.

Natalie,
I’ve set up my page Moms PACT and have activated all the apps available (photos, links etc.) Then I went to the Discussion Boards page, clicked on the “Add this app to my page”, but it showed no pages found.
From the comments left here, it appears this is happening a lot.
Can you help me with it?
The page URL http://www.facebook.com/MomsPACT

Hi Theresa
Using Facebook in your own personal profile, go to this page: https://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2373072738 and click on add to my page (on the left towards the bottom). This should bring up a pop up of your pages. Find your page and then click on add to page. If you can’t see your page it’s probably already on your page and you need to go to edit page and apps to activate it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Natalie
i’ve found the solution to everyone’s problem u must got to the ‘discussion board app’ page you can find it by typing it in the facebook search box the trick is to type in ‘discussion boards’ (with an ‘s’)or preferably go to this link which will take you to the page http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2373072738/
once there click add to my page it will then bring you a list of your pages however you mustn’t be using facebook as one of your pages this is were the problem arises for most people.best of luck!
Thanks Gideon
Facebook is removing this application from the 31st October as they want all conversation to happen on the wall!
Are you serious? They are removing discussion boards? For large groups this is problematic. I was trying to create a new group specifically because one of the groups I’m in doesn’t have a discussion board. I’m questioning the wisdom of that now.
I know this sounds silly, but can anyone else confirm this? What will happen to existing discussion boards on existing groups that have them?
If you still want to use a Discussions board, you can install this alternative: Forum For Pages
It also allows to save and import all your existing discussions from the soon deprecated Discussions tab.
Here are some step by step instructions on how to install the new discussion tab – http://gloriarand.wordpress.com/2011/10/17/save-discussions-facebook-page/

@Rohit, Nathalie: here is a free replacement for Facebook Page owners: Forum For Pages. Just go to this link and click “Go to App”, it will then add a Forum tab to your page.
It also lets you import existing discussions so that they don’t get lost once Facebook removes the old Discussions tab.
@Natalie (sorry couldn’t find a way to contact you): could you maybe write a new article about Forum For Pages? Many page owners already use it(including Sony Ericsson: http://www.facebook.com/sonyericsson?sk=app_202980683107053) and I think it could be relevant for many of your readers. I can provide more info and screenshots if needed.
I can’t find the “ADD TO PAGE” link at the discussion board page. What should i do?
Sorry folowed the steps and didnt work fb has updated since post and so its probably gone alone with the tabs
I added the discussion board on my fanpage, and It’s been removed, is there something I did wrong, it’s also removed out of my resource folder?
I was trying to follow the steps to add discussion board. However, it appears that it is no longer valid now. So, what’s an alternative. Any forum application?
Facebook has removed the discussion board app. There is a new one called Forum For Pages?
Sorry of this was answered- – can I add discussion to a FB group?

Hey guys – great discussion –
I’ve installed the fb forum app on my business page – check it out (called “forum”).
https://www.facebook.com/Insight.Genesis.Network
Once you get over the annoying ads – it’s fine. Can anyone share an ad-free forum app? Also, does anyone know of a forum app you can add that allows you to download or save discussion content? I work in marketing research and that would be super useful.
Thanks again and happy new year!!
can i have a discussion board app for my group??
I’m giving up on Forums for Pages. The developers now place unwanted ads on your page unless you pay them $60 a year, and they enlarge and distort users’ profile pictures. Wish there were a good, free alternative.
lol, sadly i dont think this will work with the new timeline. ugh, hate facebook for this :/
