How to Set Up Your Facebook Account
In this post I am going to show you step by step how to set up your Facebook Account.
1. Go to Facebook
2. Enter your:
- First Name
- Surname
- Email Address
- Password
- Gender
- Date of Birth
As per Facebook’s Terms & Conditions you must use your legal name
“Facebook users provide their real names and information, and we need your help to keep it that way. Here are some commitments you make to us relating to registering and maintaining the security of your account:
1. You will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.
2. You will not use your personal profile for your own commercial gain (such as selling your status update to an advertiser).
3. You will not use Facebook if you are under 13.
4. You will not use Facebook if you are a convicted sex offender.
5. You will keep your contact information accurate and up-to-date.
6. You will not share your password, let anyone else access your account, or do anything else that might jeopardize the security of your account.
7. You will not transfer your account to anyone without first getting our written permission.
8. If you select a username for your account we reserve the right to remove or reclaim it if we believe appropriate (such as when a trademark owner complains about a username that does not closely relate to a user’s actual name).”
3. Select Sign Up
4. Enter the information for the security code
Facebook now takes you through three steps which assist with your profile set up.
5. Step One – find friend using your email account (access your email account and find your friend from their email address). I don’t recommend doing this but it’s your choice. As I use Facebook to find new clients, so you just don’t want to transfer your whole email contact list.
6. Step Two – adding your school, college (university) or company details (this is so Facebook can recommend possible friends)
7. Step Three – uploading your photo – click on “upload from computer”
This brings up pop up window and from this box select “Choose File”. Browse your computer for photo. If you don’t have a photo and you have webcam you can take a picture to use, select “take a photo”. I would however recommend getting an image from your computer and taking the time to get a good photo of you.
8. You will now receive two emails
Welcome To Facebook
This contains useful links to parts of Facebook
The second one is important as you have to click on the link provided to activate your account.
You have now created your Facebook Account.
